1/02/08- With the week off from school, Garrett's parents have enjoyed spending a lot of quality time with their son. There was a nice snowstorm. So, Garrett got to do a lot of sledding and falling on the slippery mess. As he approaches his second birthday, Garrett continues to work on saying words. His favorite word currently is "wow". He also spends time looking at signs and t.v. and saying the first letter in the words.

12/10/08- Garrett is finally showing some great strides in speaking words, including some two word phrases. He can say about half of the alphabet and point to about 300 things when asked. As we head to the "terrific twos", Garrett is showing some shyness as he does not enjoy traveling to novel places. Of course, that's just a natural phase.

10/04/08- The past few months, Garrett has had his ups and downs. About a few weeks ago, Garrett was standing on the chair you see above and fell down on the book shelf. He ended up getting liquid stitches just below his lower lip. It has healed nicely since. He is slowly starting to say a few more words like: up, hot dog, and pop. He has grown out of his crib, since he now sleeps with his mom in bed everynight- a habit that probably will never break. Hopefully, we will convert his crib into a bed soon and we can try that out! His dexterity is improving as he is running with ease, handling lego toys, and coloring with markers. Garrett knows colors, many animals, half of the alphabet, and some numbers. We can ask him to find things in a book, which he loves to do!

7/7/08- Its the beginning of summer, and we have had plenty of time to spend with our son. His love of learning and natural curiosity is amazing. Garrett is already learning some of the letters and knows plenty of sight words. He is only speaking a few words, but he is trying hard to form some letter sounds. Garrett is also becoming more independent and is testing the boundries. He loves going outside, and hates to come back in. Our son also loves field trips. He indicates this to us by trying to open the front door or handing us his shoes. Just someday, though, he might sleep in his crib again:)

4/8/08- Garrett has finally reached the one year milestone and is quickly becoming our "little man". He has been walking for a while now, and even runs- although occasionally falling from time to time. With spring arriving, Garrett has shown much interest in going outside. Being born the previous winter, he has not had much outside time yet. This spring break we plan on bringing him out a lot. He continues to learn so much, knowing so many words-although not saying many. His favorite word currently is "hat". Garrett has almost all his teeth in and is showing impatience to eating baby food. Therefore, he is eating a lot of what his parents eat. He has arrived at the age where he is very clingy to his parents and prefers sleeping in bed with them. Enjoy the new pictures- its been a while!

12/29/07- Sorry for the long hiatus between updates. We have been very busy and had problems with our digital camera. We lost a lot of Garrett's pictures between 7 and 8 months old. However, we did put up pre-Christmas photos. For Christmas, we used our video recorder, so we probably won't have any pictures here of Garrett opening gifts. In the meantime, Garrett is growing tall at a rapid pace. He started walking very early and now can run at times. His co-ordination is very good. Garrett continues to be the social butterfly and being the star of the party. He is working on his speaking-as well as his sinister laugh! Garrett is even learning some tricks!

8/30/07- Baby G has been spending a lot of time with his parents, who are home for the summer. During that time, he has grown 4 teeth- 2 lower ones fully in and 2 upper canines that are sprouting. Garrett has begun to eat more solids- crushed fruits and some vegetables. He takes much interest in eating! By his sixth month birthday, Garrett was crawling slowly. Just a week later, he stood himself up against furniture with no assistance. He apparently does not care much for the crawling form of transportation.

7/18/07- Garrett has learned to roll, which means more mobility and fun for him. In prior months, he did not like to be on his tummy. As you can see in the above picture, he loves it now. His first tooth is coming in. Therefore, he is chewing on anything he can find-including his toes! Garrett had his first adventure at the shore and the zoo.

6/25/07- The past month has been really busy for the tot. Garrett was able to attend two of his father's school functions: Retirement Dinner at Don Pepe's and hung out with teachers and students at the 5th Grade Class Party. It was very hot and humid at the latter, but Garrett was a real trooper for 5 hours. He also spent 5 days with his grandparents and got to see his cousin, Alexandra, at a family barbeque. Hopefully, we will have pictures of the two of them on next month's page. In any event, Garrett's 4-Month Old pictures are up on the pictures page. Enjoy!

5/26/07- Garrett is really enjoying his Little Einstein activity area. You will notice that he is sitting in it in most of the pictures that I just put up today. He is trying really hard to talk by making so many sounds. He is also starting to show more expressions. He is smiling more, especially when he is being changed.

5/01/07- Pictures for Garrett's second month of life is now on the site!

4/30/07- It has been a while since the last update. Garrett has spent considerable time this month with his grandparents. RoseAnn's parents now watch him during the day on school days while both of us are at work. John's parents had Garrett for an entire week last week. Unfortunately, Garrett has gotten a cold and has to go to the doctor today. Hopefully, we will get more pictures up soon.

4/03/07- It is spring break, so I have been able to spend more time with Garrett. I've been taking him outside more, and he loves to bask in the sun on our blue patio chair. I will have that picture up sooner or later. We've been bringing him out with us to the stores and restaurants-so he gets use to social settings. We are trying the grocery store tonight. His Aunt Maddie came to visit from Seattle along with her child, John. Next weekend is Easter, so we will see the whole family.

3/24/07- Garrett continues to create his own schedule. He tends to wake up every other hour at night and is very finicky with his sleeping position. We are slowly bringing him outside more. People continue to visit and bring wonderful presents. We are looking forward to Easter and being with the entire family. I created another disc of pictures and have placed them on this site.

3/15/07- Things are going well at home. Although, Garrett still has a hard time knowing the difference between day and night. Last week, the doctor diagnosed he had pink eye. Medication removed it quickly. Yesterday, was nice out. So we finally got him outside and walked him in the stroller. Of course, he slept the whole time.

3/01/07- I finally have the pictures downloaded from my camera. It put about 17 more up on the site along with the original 5. He sleeps so much, it is hard to get good pictures.

2/27/07- I started creating a family tree using an online program. You can see it by clicking the button "My Family" on the right side of this page. RoseAnn took some pictures with her camera and will be loading them up here tonight or tomorrow.

2/25/07- We are finally home! All is well. So far, Garrett is known for his sleepy nature and big appetite. I placed a few pictures in the pictures section of this site. More will be coming soon, be patient!

2/24/07- Garrett is finally out of ICU and in our room. We finally get to spend quality time together. A bunch of people came to visit us last night to welcome our son into the world. I think some more people are coming in this afternoon as well. We are suppose to leave the hospital on Sunday. Sorry, no pictures up on the site yet-but soon.

2/23/07- Garrett is still in the ICU-while his glucose levels are returning to normal. The doctor says he might be able to stay in our room by tonight if things progress. Other than the pictures right after birth, I've not taken any others because he has tubes and wires around him currently. Plus my computer is not cooperating. So I want to fill up my camera card and go to a store to get them developed. I should have them up soon.

2/21/07- Garrett has finally arrived, after a bit of a wait for surgery because of an emergency situation involving another patient. It was an interesting experience watching the C-section process unravel. The doctors were all at ease making jokes and making us feel comfortable. RoseAnn said she felt hardly anything. The baby was the biggest of the day, clearly a future linebacker. Afterwards, it was found that my son had a low glucose count because of my wife's gestational diabetes. Therefore, Garrett has been staying in an ICU part and has not stayed in our room yet. Hopefully, that will change tomorrow.
